Children's Neighborhood Network
Connecting Community to our Children

A CNN is designed to revitalize a sense of community involvement in the lives of children through a sustainable neighborhood level support system for families. It is meant to supplement the current social service system in addressing issues such as child abuse and neglect, and behavioral and emotional difficulties in young children. A network elects neighborhood leadership, holds regular meetings, and decides on activities that they believe can help the children and their families in the neighborhood.

What does a Children's Neighborhood Network do?

A CNN is welcome to create its own new activities to support the children in their neighborhood, but some ideas are:

  • Neighborhood block party for the kids and their parents
  • Family Film nights at the neighborhood church
  • Welcome Wagon for new neighbors
  • Calling Circle to check in on new parents
  • New Mom mentor network
  • Babysitting network
  • Block play groups with adult monitoring
